The best thing I could find in the local Asian grocery store was cilantro. I figured if I made one thing easy, it would be easy. And it was. This recipe is simple, quick, and delicious.
I’ve only cooked with cilantro once (well, once the first time I made it). Since then I’ve been craving a fresh garden-fresh cilantro dish (coconut miso salmon curry being the best of them). I was so excited when I found this recipe! It takes about 10 minutes to make and the flavor is incredible.
Cilantro is a great spice for this curry because it’s very strong. It doesn’t need to be added to the curry, but if you’re looking for a quick side dish that’s a little bit chunky to make, this would be a great one.
this recipe is not something that you would expect to come out of the same kitchen as me. my dad is a doctor and my mom is a nurse and so that is where the first curry came from. Ive been making it for years now and it has always been a hit with the cooking community. Ive been known to cook it for family and friends, to cook it as a side dish at a dinner party, to cook it for my own dinner, and its easy to make.
It is one of the oldest recipes in the world and was originally created in China where it was used to make noodles and fish. Apparently, in those days, it was a popular way to eat fish because the flesh was so thin that the flavors went so very deeply into the bones. The recipe uses what looks like a mix of coconut milk and miso paste, which is essentially a paste made from the fermented ingredients of the coconut milk.
You put the meat in a baking pan. Cover it with a sheet pan and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or so. Then, when the meat is tender, remove the baking sheet and let it rest. You can then either cut it into bits or just serve it with rice or noodles.
If you’re going to do something, do it right. Because if you have coconut miso salmon curry and it’s not perfect, you won’t have a nice dinner.
And the reason is, as the saying goes, you have to try it before you die. And if you end up eating it, you are going to die. So if you like the recipe, then do yourself a favor and give it a shot. Also, if you like the miso paste, then do yourself a favor and try the miso salmon curry instead. If you like it, chances are, you will love the miso salmon curry.
And if you dont like it, well then you don’t have to eat it. Because the recipe is the recipe.
In all seriousness, I think this miso salmon curry is a perfect example of the “faux-hokus” theory. Its a good example of how food can be a metaphor for something true, but not necessarily a good one. In the actual dish, the miso paste is cooked down to a liquid form, which gives the salmon a fishy taste (which is actually a good thing).
